Mr. Pack’s experience includes the planning and design of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), incident management and data collection systems; transportation visualization systems; performance measurement, transportation database management and data extraction tools, and video traffic detection methodologies. He serves on both the National Data Requirements Committee and is a founding member of the Visualization Committee of the National Academy of Sciences Transportation Research Board. Mr. Pack is the program manager for many multi-million dollar projects including the National Capital Area’s Regional Integrated Transportation Information System (RITIS) program and the I-95 Corridor Coalition’s 3D Virtual Incident Management Training Program. Mr. Pack gives frequent lectures to students and professionals around the world at universities, conferences, and summits on transportation data visualization, performance measurement, image processing, and incident management. Mr. Pack was the 2007 winner of the Charley V. Wootan Award for outstanding paper in the field of policy and organization presented at the annual meeting of the Transportation Research Board. He was also the winner of the 2009 Greg Herrington Award for Excellence in Visualization Research. He and his laboratory were also recently featured on an episode of the History Channel’s “Modern Marvels” television program, CNN, NPR, and other national and international television, radio, and print media. Mr. Pack holds a B.S. Degree from James Madison University in Integrated Sciences and Technologies with concentrations in Information Knowledge Management, Instrumentation and Measurement, and a minor in Computer Science. He received his M.S. Degree from the University of Virginia in Systems Engineering in 2002.
